And the Cute Gets Cuter

   Yes, another "Why didn't I think of that?" moment.  Designer Claire Cole takes grandma's vintage wallpapers, cuts 'em up, adds some thread and viola! wallpaper that doesn't make you want to throw up. (via Candy Colored Buddha).
  Her tea cups are pretty freaking adorable as well.

Today I smile because....

... of Nendo, the amazing Japanese design firm behind this fantastical rock-climbing wall. Maybe something this fun would actually inspire me to work out?

  Situated on a lake in Japan, this home design was inspired by the mossy rocks found right outside. Lovely and amazing!!!

  These gorgeous hand-embroidered vases by Etsy seller Nesting Emily are the perfect excuse to buy yourself flowers!

     This Vintage WWII print is hand silk-screened with metallic ink. Words to live by!

 

Lost in Wallpaper Land!

    

     I feel like I've fallen down the rabbit hole every time I visit Walnut Wallpaper.  Their featured designs, by underground artist Geoff McFetridge (below), are just the kind of fun patterns my friends and I squeal over!

    The best part?  It looks straight out of the vintage stores we frequent downtown, but the line is produced using only water based ink, with no chemical waterproofing (I'm guessing with the similar-style vintage wall papers - that would not be the case!).

     Since wallpapering a whole wall for me is definitely scary,  I would scour goodwill for different size frames, spray paint them all black (or all white) then create a wall collage with all the different styles... wallpaper without paste!

     Also, if you browse by style, be sure to click on the Eco-Friendly and Femme Fatale styles.  You could save some $$$ by ordering just a bit and wallpapering a wooden panel to use as a creative art solution.  Maybe three, since grouping adds more impact?  Ooo, brainstorm! I could use it in the center of the collage I've been thinking about...

Don't cry for me. Design^Sprout goes to Argentina!

     Now that I have bid a fond  farewell to the good 'ol US of A and am safely nestled in my colonial apartment smack dab in the middles of Buenos Aires - a place full of amazing designers, crafters and architecture! I'm going take tons of inspirational pics (including a dramatic! few of me flinging open tall wooden doors and singing from iron balconies ala Evita!) to bring you the best of what this city has to offer. Woo Hoo!

   The photo above was taken in an Argetnine home accessories store and I thought it was so clever.  I'm such a fan of hodge-podge (no surprise there!) but the way they've anchored all the different frames and photo types with that statement wallpaper is just so creative! There are soooo many fantstic new wallpapers on the market but frequently they are none-too wallet friendly. With this idea, you only have to buy one $$$ roll, hit up a thrift store for some old frames and pow! You have a whole art statement. Bueno?

   Below area few ideas along those same lines.

   Don't these clever designs make you want to run home and paper a wall or two? Artist Natalie Wright hand silk-screens and then paints over the clever patterns she's dreamed up. The mustache design (below) has been snatched up and is currently in production by the WIlly Wonka of wallpaper, Flavor Paper. That's it! I'm gonna need to get some more walls.
